Located in the stunning scenery of the French Alps, the resort combines the ski ranges of Tignes and Val d'Isere and is considered to be the premier ski resort in the world.
Tignes itself consists of three purpose built villages developed around a frozen lake.
The glacier offers skiing most days a year (which few others even attempt) and for eight months a vertical drop of 1400 metres is maintained, with the aid of snow-making if necessary.
Having skied and snowboarded all over the world we decided to settle in Tignes. Its glacier and high altitude guarantees you will find the best powder around and the lake surrounded by the Espace Killy resort offers breathtaking scenery. The Espace Killy provides for complete beginner to arguably the most challenging pistes and off piste. Despite the skiing being shared by the infamous and highly regarded Val d’Isere, Tignes offers exactly the same runs but a more relaxed, easy going, cheaper alternative to Val d’Isere. With its 10 year regeneration program of its lift system, facilities and accommodation fully in swing, Tignes is becoming a more attractive pristine wooden lodge style resort. It is seen as a trendy up and coming area.
